Influence of Iron Load on the Concentration of Tissue Storage Iron in the Hypophysectomized Rabbits

Abstract
The author observed the changes of storage iron concentration by the methods of Yoneyama-Konno and Bruckmann-Zondeck in the liver, spleen, renal cortex, renal medulla, bone marrow and the duodenum by giving colloidal iron into the blood stream of normal rabbits and the hypophysectomized rabbits, and the following results were obtained.
1. In the hypophysectomized rabbits, the phenomenon of a decreasing tissue storage iron concentration is
thought to be attributed to the decline of the preserving activity for storage iron.
2. When colloidal iron is given intravenously into the hypophysectomized rabbits, a lowering of reserving, activity for tissue storage iron is more accelerated in the liver, spleen, kidney, and the bone marrow but not in the duodenum.
